And, on that note, Becca Anderson, in the role of the mother, Helen Bechdel, brings the family drama back to its rightful maternal source in a gulp-worthy "Days and Days" that would ellicit a "Woot" from Virginia Woolf.

Thankfully for Village Rep., they found just the woman who could do it, an actress who makes this staging of Grey Gardens a vibrantly colorful night at the theater.

Playing both Big and Little Edie, Becca Anderson is the star of this show. But she goes beyond having the title role on the playbill. Anderson wholly embodies two women who have fascinated fans of the film for years. Which is to say, go for love of the documentary, stay to watch Anderson shine.

Even in the midst of her 11 o’clock number, 'Another Winter in a Summer Town,' a song about Edie’s desperate need to escape her mother’s clutches, Anderson’s powerful voice magnifies her hopelessness.

The brilliantly talented cast of “Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche” got huge laughs at the show’s sold-out opening night on Saturday. Lulie (Becca Anderson) was the ultra-religious leader of the group with a terrifyingly funny sense of humor.

With Pattie, actress Becca Anderson lets loose. She yells. She howls. She cries and she cusses like a sailor. Crippled by carpal tunnel syndrome and a broken leg, She’s an oddly sympathetic mix of crass humor, fear, and devastation.

Taking on the role of Cline requires a dedicated actor with a powerful voice and Anderson has the chops. Cline’s treasured song book is in capable hands.
